Greek History Research Assignment

How do Greek and Roman culture influence modern thought? How do the concretes relate to the abstracts?

Choose one of the topics below, research it, and present your findings to the class (any other topic must be approved by Mr. Canfield or Mr. Greenbaum).

Use your world studies books to get started and include any pertinent information from the book in your presentation. In your presentation you must include:

  • Background information necessary to understand this person / event / thing / place / philosphy
  • Impact it had on Greek culture and Greek society
  • Impact it had on other cultures
  • Impact it has on society today
  • A visual aid in your presentation, give all pertinent information in note form and explain it.

Research: You should use the databases and recommended sites ONLY! NO WIKIPEDIA! Compile information about your topic from three sources (honors: five) You will include a bibliography with all of your sources. Use EasyBib!

Powerpoint and Notes: You must create and preset a Powerpoint presentation (and share on Google drive), and give all pertinent information in note form and explain it. You will also create a fill-in-the-blank handout for your classmates to use during your presentation. You must include two reflective questions at the beginning of your presentation. Your audience (students) must respond to these reflection questions in complete sentences. You will need to be responsible for commenting on your classmate's responses and returning them to classmates the day after your presentation.
